What happens in a blepharoplasty?

A blepharoplasty is a day procedure, meaning that you can go home that night rather than staying in the hospital.

You’ll be given drugs to numb your eyelids and to help you relax throughout the procedure. Then your surgeon will make small incisions in the targeted area to remove the excess tissue.

Afterwards, you’ll be monitored to check that you’re recovering well. It’s fairly common to experience temporary symptoms such as pain, swelling or bruising around your eyes, double vision, blurred vision or light sensitivity.

Once those settle down, you’ll be given instructions on how to manage your recovery and allowed to go home.
